Faribault High School not only has the main stage in the performing arts center, it also has a Black Box Theatre which functions in many ways. It is used in instructing academic theatre classes, it is a rehearsal space, it is used (with the Upper Deck folded and the dance mirror curtains opened) as a room for choreographing the musicals, and for the students to stage an original production through the Theatre Production class. There are other activities that occur in the Black Box over the school year such as Open Mic Nights, Mental Floss - improvisation competition - and student one act plays. The theatre club organizes parties and dances as well as club meetings in this space.
